Updated information on my game project

Well, I didn’t get a whole lot done this week. Not very much at all.

All I really did was buy the professional version of GameMaker Studio, and work a bit on the story of my game. There’s still a long, long ways to go in order to get started with the project, but in the meantime I’ve been practicing my pixel-art skills, and deciding on the style of music for the game.

Speaking of the style of music, along with that the new ideas for the game include…

  • 8-bit style music. Preferably created with the use of the OP-1, but I may have to settle for something that doesn’t cost almost $1K. All music will be original and composed completely with the spirit of the game in mind. Sound effects will also be reminiscent of the 8-bit era.
  • Parallax backgrounds, because this game wouldn’t be complete without some sort of depth now, would it?
  • Epic cutscenes, featuring some minor voice acting and slight animations.
  • Some references to several things of geekery, and…
  • An epic secret level that will be very, very difficult to find. But it will be there, hidden deep in the memory of your GPU/CPU!
